The Litt’l Fishermen first performed for a dance on New Years Eve, 1969. Since then the band has been on three tours and played in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, and of course, Texas. The band has made eight recordings in addition to the four Polka Band Leaders recordings, and has a one-hour video tape. Playing with the present band are three members who played at the New Years Eve “Opening Night” and over half of the band have been members for at least 30 years. The band plays in two configurations: as a 9 piece “polka band” featuring 3 brass, 3 sax/clarinet, and accordion, tuba, and drums; and as a 10 piece “ballroom dance band” with 3 brass, 4 sax/clarinet, keyboard, acoustic bass, and drums.
